Comparable in sound to gut, without gut's disadvantages.
These strings have a highly flexible, multi-strand nylon core and cater for artists who feel uncomfortable
with steel strings. The resounding success of our Dominant string owes a lot to its similarity in tone and
response to gut strings, without gut's attendant drawbacks.
The sound of the Dominant string is full and mellow, yet rich in overtones. Its radiance, its ability to project
sound without being metallic, comes to the fore both in arco and pizzicato. Other advantages are Dominant's
effortless response to intricate fingering and its tuning stability even under extreme atmospheric conditions.
But Dominant's beauty of tone is not as long lasting as that of a steel string, a price the discerning musician
will be prepared to pay for this quality of sound. Dominant strings should be changed at appropriate intervals
to ensure continuity of tone color.
N.B. The playing and tuning peg length of the string are critical, so the string used should be exactly matched
to the instrument's measurements.
Hi-tech, top grade, spiral steel core strings
At present there are two types of Infeld Violin strings, whereby the red set will produce a rather
dark sound on the majority of violins, while the blue set will tend to bring out the instrument's brilliance.
Tonal balance, playing characteristics at any given position and string response are excellent throughout.
This is possible due to homogenous string tension at various pitches and design parameters which balance the
overall behaviour of the set irrespective of the combination of strings. Using the INFELD VIOLIN system,
both the violinist and the violin maker will find that the instrument can be optimized in a very short time.

Spirocore strings are a further technical development of our Künstler Seil series and have a flexible spiral steel core.
This core has greater elasticity than that of conventional strings, which means less inertia and a higher propensity to
musical vibration.
The sound is full and homogenous, balanced and voluminous. The string has been calibrated to satisfy the express wish of
many artists for an equally effective arco and pizzicato.
Particularly bassists with a low C extension will value this string's reliability. Spirocore is also much favored by jazz
bassists because of its suitability for amplified pickup tone. Thomastik-Infeld has tackled notorious 'cello problems such
as wolf notes and muting difficulties with Spirocore C and G strings in wound tungsten and silver wound.
Spirocore's hi-tech core makes for effortless fingering, responsive bowing, stable tuning and a very long string life.
With Spirocore the steel string's technical possibilities have been developed to their maximum.

This string is an advance over conventional solid strings, lying midway in the path of evolution from the solid core
to the advanced spiral core type.
The solid core has been replaced by a cable-type structure made up of braided steel threads. This reduces the
string's stiffness, improving its elasticity. Superflexible is incomparably responsive and its tone seems to
literally radiate from the instrument, without the least harshness. Durability, tuning stability and purity of open
fifths are unsurpassed. Superflexible is a dependable all-round string for the discerning musician, at home with
every type of bowing and in every musical situation. Superflexible is not only appropriate for the special timbre
of viola and 'cello but seems to restore the original beauty of tone to these instruments which other strings often
tend to hide.

Robust, inexpensive solid core steel strings
With their solid core, these steel strings are strident in tone and feel, lending the sound brilliance and
enhancing the player's confidence on the instrument. Precision are by no means a new invention and are based
on the original ideology of Dr. Thomastik and Otto Infeld.
They have been produced in consistent quality since 1920, constantly being updated to incorporate the latest
technical findings and our wealth of musical experience. Precision strings are ideal for students, ensemble
players and folk musicians. This standard model has remained popular to this day, not only because of its
price range but its long playing life. It should be noted that the bass strings are not suited to pizzicato playing.
For the player who wishes to experiment, Thomastik-Infeld recommends the e2-mi2 range, where all the violin E strings
we produce can be supplied individually. New gauges and grades of tension have been included for even greater variety.
