Diospyros Ebonasea

Monkey Pod solid timber and wood for acoustic guitar back and sides

BOTANY:	Samanea Saman, Pithecellobium Saman
SOURCE:	Originated in Central and South America, but has been successfully transplanted in many tropical countries
COLOURS:	Monkey-pod is a golden amber color with dark streaks sometimes resembling Koa or Acacia
CHARACTER:	Wavy, interlocked grain with a coarse texture. Light, soft, and easily worked, but the interlocked grain may cause tear-out or wooly surfaces.
COMPARES:	Koa, Black Acacia

Monkey Pod is available as back and sides on any ellis elite guitar.
