The Fishman Rare Earth Single Coil fits in soundholes from 3-5/8" (92mm) to 4-3/8" in diameter. The pre-wired external output jack can also be installed permanently as an endpin jack if desired. This pickup offers easy installation with no alteration: plug-and-play right out of the box!

Design - The Rare Earth™ is a compact active magnetic soundhole pickup, designed for most steel-string, flat top guitars. Its low profile design ensures that both your picking style and the guitar's acoustic tone will not be affected.

Humbucking Dual Coil - The Rare Earth Humbucking Dual Coil Pickup has a second coil that is specifically designed to cancel the 'hum' that is inherent in all single-coil pickups. This pickup also includes a volume control directly on the pickup, easy to adjust even while playing.

Sound Quality - The natural sound of your acoustic guitar is reproduced by the Rare Earth™ thanks to state-of-the-art magnetic field/coil structure and advanced active electronics. A unique arrangement of neodymium magnets is responsible for the Rare Earth™'s excellent string balance and light weight. Neodymium (a rare earth element, hence the name) has 10 times the magnetic strength of ceramic magnets, which makes the Rare Earth™ smaller and lighter than many traditional soundhole pickups. Each magnet in the Rare Earth™ is voiced for precise balance with bronze or phosphor bronze acoustic guitar strings.

Amplifiers - You can plug the Rare Earth™ into most musical instrument amplifiers, but for the most natural sound reproduction, we strongly recommended a full range system, such as a high-quality acoustic instrument amp, keyboard amp, or PA system.

Active Preamp - The preamp is housed within the pickup. A low noise circuit design preserves the pickup's performance in any audio environment. The preamp allows you to plug the Rare Earth™ into a full range instrument amplifier, an unbalanced input of a PA system, a recording console or direct box, without the signal loss or degradation typically found with passive soundhole pickups. You may run cables up to 80' (25m) in length without any audible loss of fidelity.

Fits in soundholes as small as 3 5/8" (92mm) diametre. Pre-wired output jack can also be endpin mounted.

In-body Microphone - The Rare Earth Humbucking Blend Pickup includes an attached high quality microphone on a flexible boom that can be adjusted for best intonation for your guitar. Blending controls provide a mix between the magnetic pickup and the microphone.

The Neo-D can be used directly with most amps and PA systems without a preamp. A standard instrument cable is attached, allowing you to install the Neo-D without any cutting or drilling. This also makes it easy to move the pickup between guitars.

Single Coil Pickup - The Neo-D is a single coil pickup, which offers wide open sound clarity. Like all single-coil pickups, you should be careful to avoid electrical interference from external sources, which may produce hum. Dual coil pickups provide hum cancellation features (hence the name "humbucker"), but do not have the same sonic range as a single coil pickup.

Dual Coil Pickup - The Neo-D Humbucking is a dual coil pickup. Dual coil pickups provide hum cancellation features. The original Neo-D single coil pickup can be affected by nearby electromagnetic intereference such as fluorescent lights or other equipment, but this new dual coil pickup is specifically designed to cancel hum and noise from this type of interference, making this a much quieter pickup than the original Neo-D.
