Ellis Guitars gives you the choice of fret wire size. The advantage of side fret wire (traditionally only on Jumbo guitars) is it increases the length of time before you need a re-fret. A fret level and crown will do the trick saving you money.
Wide fretwire is great for Jumbos, basses and electrics. Medium guitar fret wire comes in a range of widths, and are variously favoured by Gibson, Martin and Fender and is preferred by most Acoustic guitar builders. Narrow fretwire is also available traditional pre-war and used mostly on Banjos, Mandolins and Dulcimers.
