Hot SoundSpot™
SoundSpots are ultra-sensitive transducer pickups suitable for stringed and non-stringed acoustic and ethnic instruments.
Unlike other “dot-type” transducer pickups, each SoundSpot™ is hand ground to extremely fine tolerances. This process,
along with the selection of materials, renders a pickup with a very thin surface that also maintains its strength and
flexibility. The result is a transducer that is ultra-sensitive to an instrument’s surface vibrations and, therefore,
is extremely natural and warm sounding.

Applying The Pickup
Instead of gluing the pickup, wedge it under the bridge’s center, as shown in the diagram. If there’s too much
space for the pickup to fit securely, you can wedge a piece of guitar pick between the HOT SoundSpot’s plastic side
and the mandolin’s bridge.
If the bridge already sits flush against the top with no space separating the bridge and top, then file an area on the
bridge’s bottom to accommodate the pickup. Be careful not to file too much off of the bridge, and check your work often.
Tape the cord to the instrument to keep it from rattling.
Jack
The 1/4" output jack is taped with a clip holder to either the lower bout near the strap pin, or elsewhere
(if your case is unable to close with the jack near the strap pin, find another unobtrusive location).
You can also use a self-adhesive dual-lock hook-and-loop strip.
Usage Tips
Guitar and keyboard amps work very well with this pickup. It’s also great for onstage applications with a P.A.
system because of its immunity to most feedback. For P.A. and recording applications, a high-quality direct
box such as the D-TAR Solstice or Equinox is suggested.
